Creative Garden Design

Great gardens require great garden design.

In recent years Keith and Mark our in-house designers have won top R.H.S medals for the gardens they have created at the Malvern Spring Show, the ‘Gardener’s World Live’ show at the N.E.C Birmingham and the Chelsea Flower show, and also several Association of Proffesional Landscaper awards.

Keith has spent over 30 years developing his own award winning three acre ‘ideas’ gardens here at Whitlenge Gardens in Hartlebury, Worcestershire, and has at the same time been continuously improving the five acre specimen plant nursery adjacent to the show gardens. Visual Concept Plans / Designs

Whether you require our full garden design and consultation service or you have your own ideas and just want to know what it would cost to achieve, it makes sense to have the proposed ideas drawn up so that you can visualise exactly what the garden will look like before you go ahead and have it built – You would not build a house without plans would you?!

Rather than opting for an expensive detailed technical drawing, which would show you the depth of trenches, and exact sizes, type of mixes and build specifics (which is really for when you are building it yourselves), we normally advise you to opt for a concept plan, as this will show you graphically what we are trying to achieve and will be half the cost of a technical drawing.

This concept plan would be a fully coloured bird’s eye view of the design and this will give us the opportunity to see if all these items will fit into the space without looking out of proportion, if they do then it is a simple job of erasing on the screen and moving everything around, as opposed to digging up newly built work because we didn’t have a plan to follow, so a plan will save you more than its drawing up cost.
This process involves us accurately measuring up, triangulating and digitally photographing the whole area.

Obviously plans vary in price depending on the size and complexity of the site/design. They start from as little as £450 + VAT for a concept plan where you get to see what your garden will look like BEFORE you commit yourself to any physical building work.

Estimate Garden Consultation Concept plan - Design Planting Plan

Free Estimate –
Have you got the ideas but have no idea of the cost to achieve this?
Not every job requires a lengthy discussion or a drawn plan – for simple work such as Fencing, Turfing or if you have already decided on the shape, size and even the material of a patio or garden feature, we will simply follow your instructions and cost for the labour and materials needed to complete your project, which will be posted to you following the appointment.

Change your mind on the day and decide you want some ideas ? Our designers can upgrade you to our ‘Garden Consultation Package‘ on site (time allowing) and all of the ideas discussed will be posted to you in a written quotation. See more information on this service under the Consultation tab.

Consultation-

We will arrange a time for one of our RHS Medal winning designers, with over 30 years experience in garden design and landscaping, to visit you on site and armed with their extensive portfolio of our before and after photos. They will walk through your garden discussing your ideas, dreams and general requirements.

They will ensure that you are making the best of your existing features and levels, and that any new requirements will blend in, bringing all the latest material brochures and recommending the most appropriate for your individual garden, and more importantly steering you away from some of the inferior products that do swamp our industry.

Whilst on site your garden will be given a a quick visual “health check”, looking for obvious disease, bug infestation etc, also checking tree stakes and ties for chaffing etc (an all too common problem).

Once you have discussed all the proposed improvements, they can then advise you on the next step whether it be a full scaled plan or a written quotation of options for discussed and agreed work. If your budget requires we can break this work down into ‘Stages’ to spread the work over several months or years to develop your Dream Garden.

This package is at a special introductory offer of just £25 plus VAT, making it just £30 including VAT payable on the day for this service.

Time to Think, Time To Pay – A Concept Plan –

A fully measured and scaled concept drawing allows you to create your garden over a period of time, allowing you to make any refinements along the way if you wish, and spreading the cost – you don’t HAVE TO build all of your garden in a few weeks!
It also allows you to visualise and alter the garden plan before any building work begins to determine the workability of the areas, and ultimately saving costly alterations during the building phase.

Plans are Chargeable on an hourly rate, however as a guide a plan for a small domestic garden starts from £450 + VAT.

Visit us at Whitlenge Gardens and see examples of finished, fully scaled and coloured designs including “before and after” pictures on our presentation board, and then walk through our award winning 3 acre show gardens to see these plans “come to life”.

Planting Plan –

Only require Planting or Pruning (Soft Landscaping) rather than a new garden structural design? (Hard Landscaping e.g. Patios etc…)

We offer a a ‘Planting Plan’ service charged at an hourly rate, this can be combined with our other services or stand alone dependent on your requirements, and these plans start from £150 + VAT.

We also have Plants available to purchase on our Plant Nursery at Whitlenge Gardens so can supply these plants on request.
